Welcome
Checking In:
We arrived after the office/lodge closed. We rode around, found an empty site, and set up camp. The next morning we went into the lodge, and registered for our stay. Simply filled out a registration form and stood in line with everyone for breakfast. When we got to the front of the line, we paid for breakfast and our stay.
First Impression:
When we arrived it was after dark. There weren’t any signs indicating exactly what to do. The lodge property appeared well maintained, clean, and welcoming. We were just a bit confused what we should do.
Ammenities:
There isn’t a lot, but what there is 100% caters to bikers. Bathrooms and showers are clean. The main lodge houses a restaurant with some really good food, serving breakfast, lunch/dinner. There is a nice stream running through the property, BEWARE OF THE SNAPPING TURTLES! There are also cabins available to rental, but we didn’t go this route. We set up our hammocks beside the stream. They also have coolers available, ice, and firewood. There are picnic tables scattered around, as well as designated fire rings. You are permitted to move the tables, but they ask that you leave the fire rings where they are. As a result, not every tent site has a fire ring. We found that our neighbors were more than welcoming and invited us to sit with them.
Checking Out:
Checking out was as simple as turning in our cooler, picking up our site, and rolling out.
Overall Thoughts:
Two Wheels of Suches was fantastic. The majority of the guests were adventure bike types, with a handful of Cruiser/Touring types. The entire site was quiet and peaceful, even with many sites remaining active well into the early morning hours. They want you to have a good time, but they expect you to be respectful. Showing up late, finding something to eat was impossible. There is a convenient store across the street but it also closed early. We were amazed at the food in the lodge. If you leave there hungry its on you. They served up some of the largest pancakes and omelettes that I have ever seen. This is a NO COLORS establishment which is their right, just not one I am a big fan of. We used this location as our base camp for a weekend of riding The Gauntlet. Two Wheels is situated on one of the turns so it was great for that. Overall, this was one of the best camping experiences I have had on the scoot. We will be back!
